About College

The most famous town of Distt. Kangra, Haripur where the institution Chander Dhar Guleri Govt Degree College is located, was the capital of Guler Riyasat founded by Raja Hari Chand in 1415 AD. The town is retaining larger number of artefacts and artists in the great historic and cultural heritage of India during middle, pre-colonial and modern era. The river Banner which is popularly known as Banganga in Kangra separates the town from Guler and makes Pong Wetland is a heaven for large oumber of migratory birds in winters.

The names Nainsukh und Manku are in golden print of the cultural saga of Haripur in the field of hilly paintings. Thus they occupy a dignified place among great Indian painters. Beyond this great soil of Haripur has contributed to the great Indian literary writings in Hindi through the pen of Pt. Chander Dhar Sharma Guleri. He has enriched Hindi literature with his acclaimed hterary masterpieces through his writing excellence. Apart from this his great literary creation Usne Kaha Tha adapted by Indian cinema in the form of most famous film bearing the same title starring by popular celebrities Sunil Dutt and Nanda which was screened in 1960.

Started in 1994 as a private college by Bharat Education Society and taken over by the H.P. Government on 20.4.2007, the Govt. Degree College. Haripur (Guler) stands today in symbolic shadow of Pt. Shri Chander Dhar Sharma Guleri. This college has its own building which is one of the most beautiful piece of architecture, the college keeps 90 canals land near Mata Dhantoshi Temple. The nearest colleges are Nagrota Surian, Delra and Dhaliara. This area and its youth richly deserves an Institute offering higher education in Science. Arts and Commerce streams that would cater to the aspirations of the people of this region. From the academic session 2019-20 the college started BCA classes. This college is well facilitated with Student's furniture, Gymnasium. Wi-Fi system, CCTV cameras for surveillance, computer Lab, Science Labs and fully modernized library. In addition to it college is equipped with water purifier, water storage tank and water cooler.

Situated in the lap of nature, this college is imparting education on all spheres of life to the students for their physical, mental, social, cultural and ethical development. Blessed with paucity and divine power from Maa Dhandoshi (Danmandoshi) students get inspiration to rise high in their life from the altitude of Himalayan peaks and are motivated to lead dedicated life from every flourishing stream of widely speeded Pong lake. In this way the college is nourishing the students a multidisciplinary approach including education, personality development and character building to produce a strong native to this motherland.
